The Riversong Award

The Riversong Award offers multi-year funding to women environmental leaders of color through monetary prizes, leadership and well-being stipends, organizational grants, virtual and in-personal networking, and more. Riversong is a nod and counterpoint to our organization’s namesake Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring. Through the support of our movement’s leaders, we have the opposite of a silent spring; it is chirping, joyous, singing, alive, and thriving.

2023 Award Cycle

Our 2023 award confers three years of funding totaling $75,000, which will span 2023-2025:

  • $10,000 unrestricted, personal prizes ($30,000 total, over three years)
  • $5,000 leadership and wellbeing stipend ($15,000 total, over three years)
  • $10,000 unrestricted, general operating support grant to your organization ($30,000 total, over three years). Note: grants may only be sent to 501c3 organizations; fiscally-sponsored projects of 501c3 organizations; and federally recognized tribes. Candidates not affiliated with these types of organizations can still apply to the award.

Finalists receive monetary prizes of $2,500 and semi-finalists receive $1,000, and are encouraged to apply again.

Applications are open from DATE to DATE, and our awardees will be announce in fall 2023. Our process is slower that typical grantmaking decisions, as our community takes ample time and care with all applications.
